The Sites4Doctors Site Management System

The Site Management System (SMS) has been designed specifically for GP practice websites. It aims to make developing and managing a site as straightforward as possible for busy professionals who have no interest in the nuts and bolts of the World Wide Web and only essential office IT skills. It can be used on any Internet-connected computer.

No Web skills needed

If you can fill in simple online forms (as you must have done to set your site up in the first place) and can create and edit basic documents using a package such as Microsoft Word, you have all the IT skills you need to manage your website.

The SMS Home Page

Home page of the Site Management System

This is the ’nerve centre’ of the whole system. It is where you start every site maintenance session and where you return after each task.

Most of the links take you to one or more forms. You will find a brief description of each below, some with links to separate pages giving far more detailed explanations.

Edit site details

Edit the practice name shown on your web pages and the contact details for the site. Enter email addresses for repeat prescription requests and invoices. Switch the following facilities on and off:

  • repeat prescription ordering
  • GPAQ patient satisfaction survey
  • patients’ comments and suggestions box
  • Clinics button
  • Surgery Details, Contact Us and Opening Hours buttons
  • EMIS Access button
  • About Us button
  • visit counter on home page and on all other pages

Manage practice details

Manage the data about your practice, its premises and its people that drives the automatic publication of basic practice information - click here for details.

Edit SMS users

Create and delete site editors and administrators. Edit status, passwords etc.

News and help

Links to: Latest news, which keeps users up-to-date with SMS developments, many of them requested or suggested by practices; About the SMS, which gives an overview of the system; and Home page HELP, which provides detailed instructions on all the functions available from the home page.

Where are you?

The You are in bar tells editors which folder they are currently editing, with links back to folders higher up in the structure. This example has a link to switch between the practice’s public website and its Sites4Doctors intranet, and one to allow editing of sub-folders, pages and documents from folders that have been deleted.

Folders

The Folders box is where you manage the structure of your site. Folders are used to organise site content and control the button bar which appears on every site page. Click here for more details.

Web content

The Pages box is where you manage pages, documents (which behave like pages) and pictures (which you insert into pages). Click the links to read about each type of content.

Support/suggestions form

This form emails your support request or suggestion to Sites4Professionals. Click here to read more about our customer care.

Hit-count summary

Displays a table showing all your pages and documents with a total number of hits for each, in descending order of popularity. This data is compiled whether you have the visit counter displayed or not.

This is the new scrolling banner feature - just enter the text in a form to activate!

The Sites4Doctors site has been created and is being managed with the Site Management System we offer our customers.
