The LMCs’ roleSites4Doctors was developed by Paul Marsden after a three-year contract as Web Development Manager for five Midlands PCTs. In this capacity he had built, hosted and managed websites for an old Health Authority, the five PCTs, a new NHS shared-services organisation, a county-wide Mental Health Services Trust, a Strategic Health Authority and many local NHS initiatives. Latterly, still on behalf of the NHS, he had created sites for a number of non-NHS clients, including several East Midlands Local Medical Committees. At the end of his NHS contract, former clients in the LMC secretariats were generous in encouraging the development of Sites4Doctors, suggesting many features to ensure that the package met the real needs of their constituent practices. Nottinghamshire LMC, which manages the Trent Buying Group for Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire practices, launched Sites4Doctors with a strong recommendation to members in September 2004. It also featured the package in the Trent Buying Group News published in July 2005. Leicestershire and Rutland LMC launched it separately to members at the same time. Input from client practicesGP practices are demanding clients, and Sites4Doctors owes many of its features to requests from the practices that have bought into it. Click here to read more details...
